Finlandssvenska Vasas flora och fauna debuterade 2015 med “Släkt med Lotta Svärd”, en samling sånger som snart blev några av årets mest omtalade av såväl musikkritiker som publik. År 2016 släpptes den fristående dubbelsingeln “Honda Monkey” / ”Sammy, finsk spets” som följdes av spelningar på bland annat Way Out West och Stockholm Music & Arts. Förra året kom uppföljaralbumet ”Veneziansk afton” som producerades, spelades in och mixades av Niklas Berglöf i Stockholm. Nu står också klart att de släpper ett tredje album den 23 november – denna gång på tyska.
Skivan, som fått namnet ”Strandgut”, innehåller översatta låtar från bandets två tidigare album.
– För några decennier sedan var det i Europa fullständigt naturligt att översätta låtar till olika språk, men på grund av engelskans spridning har den här företeelsen närmast dött ut. Vi vill återuppväcka en gammal praxis, och samtidigt få ett facit på vad som händer med låtarna när vi byter till ett närliggande men ändå främmande språk. säger bandet.
Översättningarna på ”Strandgut” är gjorda av Jonathan del Pozo Rieger och Emely Majrell. Skivan är producerad av Niklas Berglöf.
