Fjorton musiker, sju länder, tre kontinenter, ett band!

Världens Band är en ensemble med medlemmar från hela världen som förkroppsligar tanken om att musik kan förena människor och bygga broar över gränser.

Musiken har sina rötter i medlemmarnas kulturella bakgrunder och omvandlas till en nyskapande blandning av traditioner och genrer som de själva kallar Transglobal Roots Fusion. Svenska melodier möter skotska reels följt av engelsk gitarr och indisk klassisk sång. Galicisk säckpipa spela melodier från Balkan och senegalesisk kora blandas med rytmer från medelhavet.

Resultatet är ett unikt och spännande möte mellan olika kulturer, personligheter och musikstilar.

Världens Band performs folk and roots music from their native countries in a collision of cultures and a style they have self-branded as ‘Transglobal Roots Fusion’. Formed in 2012, Världens Band is an explosive orchestra where Swedish melodies meet Scottish reels, English guitar accompanies Indian classical song, Galician pipes play Balkan melodies and the Senegalese kora blends with Mediterranean rhythms. The result is a unique and exciting blend of culture, personality and style.

Världens Band was first brought together in early autumn 2012 by the Swedish Folk Act Kolonien as an experiment to create a new big band of folk music with people from different cultural and economic backgrounds – a group seemingly impossible to fit together and a board set for possible conflict with religious and political differences.

But with music as the language and common ground, they have blossomed into an explosive orchestra that aims to challenge norms and prejudices. Världens Band wishes to become a necessary contribution to both the music scene and the societal debate through showing that music can unite and create common understanding across borders.

With their catchy mix of music from India, Sweden, Senegal, Tunisia, England, Scotland and France, they have conducted three highly acclaimed tours of Sweden and just completed their first UK tour, which saw standing ovations from Glasgow to London. They are currently planning a European festivals tour and the launch of their first studio album for Summer 2015, which will be followed by another visit to the UK and a tour of India in Autumn 2015.

The concert venue, Fisksätra church, is the site for the peace building future project Guds Hus (House of God).
