Rami och Hasan Nakhleh växte upp i Golanhöjderna. Som många andra i det av Israel ockuperade området har de aldrig ägt pass, istället använder bröderna ett dokument som kallas Laissez passer för att resa. Laissez Passer är också namnet på ett album de släppte 2017, influerat av såväl ökenblues som reggae.
Sedan dess har de flyttat fokus i sin musik, tillbaka till 80-talets elektroniska disco från Libanon och Egypten. Hasan Nakhleh drömde sig nostalgiskt tillbaka till en enkel keyboard med orientalisk skala som fanns i hans barndomshem. Han spårade upp ett begagnat exemplar av instrumentet, och det blev starten på senaste albumet Migrant Birds. Det är smooth, glittrigt och fyllt av trånande svårmod. De flesta av låtarna är funkig disco med mikrotonala synthslingor, ibland känns den som en levantinsk spegelversion av Daft Punks Random Access Memories. Men Tootards viktigaste influenser kommer från den egyptiske gitarristen Omar Khorshid, som jämte keyboardister som Ihsan Al-Munzer introducerade västerländsk disco och funk till det klassiska arabiska tonspråket.Som titeln Migrant Birds antyder är frihet ett återkommande tema: Drömmen om att röra sig fritt över fysiska gränser och murar, men också över de osynliga barriärer som begränsar hur man kan leva och vem man får älska.

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you.
