Onsdag 12 juni i Eric Ericson-hallen kl 19.30 ges för första gången oratoriet
The Creation (Skapelsen) av Mattias Sköld.
En musikhändelse att uppmärksamma!
I början av hösten 2018 träffade jag på Mattias Sköld på Konserthuset i Stockholm och han var ivrig att få prata. ”Jag har något nytt på gång….”
Det nya var ett nytt oratorium som visserligen bara till häften var färdigskrivet men han ville ändå att jag skulle läsa igenom och komma med synpunkter. Sagt och gjort. Jag fick ett halvt oratorium och efter att ha spelat igenom partituret var jag helt övertygad. Min kommentar blev: ”Har du hela verket färdigt före nyår så lovar jag att göra allt för att få det framfört under 2019”.
Och första veckan i januari 2019 låg hela det nya The Creation färdigt!
Mikaeli kammarkör och jag har haft förmånen och glädjen att få uruppföra flera av Mattias Skölds andra större verk. Jag känner i detta nya oratorium en ny ton – ett direktare tilltal, en intressantare form och kanske t.o.m. ett drag av romantisk skönhet i klangen!

Efter framgångarna med flera mindre körverk a cappella och efter de stora satsningarna
Requiem (soli, kör, stråkar och synth från 2007), Christmas Oratorio (soli, kör och kammarorkester från 2011) och St. John Passion (tenorsolo, kör och slagverkskvartett från 2014) kommer nu The Creation!
Oratoriet utgår från samma text som hos Joseph Haydns välbekanta Die Schöpfung men nu i den engelska versionen. Och Mattias Sköld har denna gång valt att besätta med tre solister, kör, 6 brassinstrument (2 horn, 2 trp, 1 trb och tuba) och 2 synthesizers.
Durata 45-50 minuter.

Som inledning på konserten framförs Paul Hindemiths Apparebit repentina dies;
ett verk från 1947 för kör och 10 brassinstrument. Detta starkt uttrycksfulla verk i tre satser har en latinsk text från det tidiga 700-talets England.
Konserten spelas in av SRP2 Live och sänds senare i P2
