Per Tengstrand berättar om historien om den familjelösa Heinrich Engelhard Steinway, som började bygga pianon i sitt kök, och som sedan erövrade världen med världens mest berömda flygelmärke. Berättelsen om piano sker i ord och ton, med musik ac Chopin, Rachmaninoff och andra berömda Steinwaypianister.
