Trots sin yttre likhet med varandra är instrumenten gayageum aoch geomungo förvånansvärt olika när det kommer till struktur, spelteknik och klangfärg. Dal:um visar här prov på hur de två instrumentens kraftfulla anslag och klang kan smälta samman på nya sätt i innovativa tolkningar av en lång musikalisk tradition.
Duon Dal:um Dal:um bildades 2018 av Ha Su-yean (gayageum) och HwangHye-yeong (geomungo). På koreanska beskriver namnet Dal:um människor som gör sitt bästa inom det de älskar att göra, något som speglar musikernas starka vilja.
English:
The name Dal:um signifies the way people keep trying their best at something that they have successfully started, reflecting the musicians’ strong will. Despite their apparent similarity, the gayageum and geomungo are surprisingly different from each other in structure, playing techniques and tone color. Dal:um will show how innovative interpretations create a harmony of strong energy and beautiful voices of the two instruments.
