I sin senaste roman En oansenlig detalj (Tranan 2023) begår en pluton israeliska soldater ett krigsbrott mot en beduinflicka i Negevöknen den 13 augusti 1949. Långt senare läser en kvinna i Ramallah en notis om denna bortglömda händelse, som med tiden förpassats till militärarkiven som en oansenlig detalj bland många. Hon påbörjar en personlig undersökning som snart övergår i besatthet, inte bara på grund av brottets natur, utan också – eller kanske framför allt – för att händelsen inträffade exakt på dagen 25 år innan hon föddes.
Adania Shibli är född 1974 i Palestina och har på tidigare utkommit med två romaner i svensk översättning på Tranan, Beröring / Vi är alla lika fjärran från kärleken, 2018. Hon anses vara en av den arabiskspråkiga litteraturens mest originella och framstående författare.
En oansenlig detalj, som först utkom 2017, har i sin engelska översättning nominerats till både National Book Awards och Booker International Prize. På senare tid har Shibli uppmärksammats också för att hennes medverkan på Bokmässan i Frankfurt, där hon skulle ta emot Der Liberaturpreis 2023, ställdes in med hänvisning till "kriget i Israel”, vilket ledde till att fler än tusen författare och intellektuella skrev ett öppet brev till hennes försvar.
Under sitt besök i Göteborg på Kulturhuset Bergsjön kommer Adania Shibli samtala om romankonst och skrivande med författaren, översättaren och kritikern Hanna Nordenhök, aktuell under våren med romanen Underlandet (Norstedts, april 2023).
