Minisällskap på vattenfestival-båt,  med oss har vi legenderna inom disco och funk scenen Kayo, DJ Rock Ski och D-flex. Vi bjuder på grillat Jamaicanskt käk från John Bulls BackaYard. En självklarhet för dig som besöker stan eller har staycation hemma. Alla är välkomna!

Vi avgår från kajen kl 18 och åker en tur i Stockholms skärgård tillbaka 21 vid hamnen och håller på så länge vi orkar.

Kayo 

Kayo started out as a singer in the 1980s with Swedish synth-pop band Freestyle. Kayo left the group with the release of the fourth single Vill ha dej. She then worked as a backup singer and dancer for various Swedish artists such as The Creeps, NASA and Anders Glenmark. She is a classically trained ballet dancer and performed professionally for many years. In 1990 she became part of the Nordik beat scene and released a self-titled influenced club-soul album on The SweMix Label, the music was mostly new jack swing but some tracks were reggae and house and featured hip hop influences. It was produced by label co-founder Stonebridge with Christian Falk and Alexander Bard (from Army of lovers).

DJ Rock Ski/ Ayodele Shekoni

Time for the legend of the legends. DJ Rock Ski is one of the pioneers when it comes to hip-hop in Sweden, and in Stockholm, when he was the first to play hip-hop out at the club in the capital. But he discovered the hip hop already in the early 80's through his big sister Kayo Shekoni who was then a dancer. The first element that Ayodele took to his heart was the DJ spirit, even though he tried to rap in the beginning. That bit got MC II Fresh responsible for when they together formed the crew IC Roc ers (Ice Cold Rockers). You could hear him with the song Hiphop Bridge on Remixed Records as early as 1987. By then Ayodele had acquired equipment with the hopes of producing music. Something that became a reality when he joined and started the label Timebomb in 1990. After the Timebomb dissolved quite shortly afterwards, the label Breakin 'Bread instead started where artists like ADL, Daddy Boastin, Ayo One Eye Red, Addis Black Widow, Chimney Heads and Hearin Aid was low. Despite having incredible quality in their productions, the label failed to achieve any major commercial success and only a few years later the effort was discontinued and most of the completed albums never saw the light of day.

D-Flex

David Seisay (aka MC Stranger aka D-Flex) is an award-winning Swedish-American songwriter, musician and entrepreneur who became famous as a rapper in Rob'n'Raz but is equally well known for his twenty-year career as one of Sweden's most prominent personal trainers.He is the founder and CEO of D-Flex House of Fitness, a company that provides health and wellness services.

He co-wrote the song 'One Step Closer To You for B-Boys International and performed with them at the Swedish national selection for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest In 2009 he scored an international hit with the song 'Touch You Right Now' which he co-wrote with Peter Thelenius.

Linda Pistol (Departure Badland)

Born in Sweden Linda Pistol is a true Stockholm original. Growing up with two different cultures that are questioning each other, Swedish and Syrian, she had to find her own way to do things. Linda Pistol promoted popular and groundbreaking clubs for 15 years and It really started to take off as she took her own initiative and built and conceptualized the club Kvarteret. Linda is more and less doing everyting to do in music business, she plays records, build clubs, arranging, promotes and produces her own music. Her passion always lays in work to inspire more women in the music industry.

Linda is an interesting contradictive multi-artist to follow. If you get the opportunity to see playing at the club shes playing techno, house, disco and drumnbass with a heavy bass. And this summer you see playing and organizing the Stockholm based Boatclub Departure.
