Come and experience the Young Nordic programmes together with their target audience!
Young Nordic is a selection of excellent short films and documentaries targeting children aged 8-12, and everyone who’s young at heart. Schools in Malmö can book screenings through Kulturkartan.
The programmes are curated by the Department of Culture, Malmö City and BUFF, Malmö’s international festival of films for children and young people. Every March, BUFF screens more than 100 films, creating an essential focal point for anyone working with children’s film and media.
The films in the Young Nordic programmes compete for the Children’s Choice Award, chosen by the young audience themselves.
#ThisIsMe by Aino Suni & Jenni Tuli What would you do if you didn't care about what other people think? What have you wanted to do or say, but haven't dared? We follow three girls keen to try something new, or to reveal a different side of themselves. They take the challenge with support from their peers. In the end, what matters is the courage to try while staying true to oneself.
Bog Hole by Torfinn Iversen Two young girls have to put their differences aside when one of them gets stuck in a bog hole. The beginning of a wonderful friendship.
Three Men by Emil Alfreð Emilsson On an isolated farm in the west of Iceland lives a small family of three males. They find it hard to express their feelings towards each other. Crisis arrives when the father of the boys finds them playing with a gun in the barn. The older brother takes his father’s scolding to heart and questions his own masculinity.
