Come and experience the Young Nordic programmes together with their target audience!
Young Nordic is a selection of excellent short films and documentaries targeting children aged 8-12, and everyone who’s young at heart. Schools in Malmö can book screenings through Kulturkartan.
The programmes are curated by the Department of Culture, Malmö City and BUFF, Malmö’s international festival of films for children and young people. Every March, BUFF screens more than 100 films, creating an essential focal point for anyone working with children’s film and media.
The films in the Young Nordic programmes compete for the Children’s Choice Award, chosen by the young audience themselves.
My New Home is a Trailer by Jasmijn Kooijman
The girls at the refugee home in Möllstorp tell their stories of love and friendship and how they ended up living in a camping ground. The stories have as many traumatic memories of displacement as insightful hopes for the future. And the girls love to dance.
Slowdance by Christian Zetterberg
A shy boy at a middle-school dance tackles the new concepts of identity, sexuality and love. "How do you really know if you like someone?"
Wanda by Denise Hauser
Wanda has umpteen conflicts at home and at school, so she escapes into an imaginary world. But help arrives from an unexpected place and she can confront reality.
