Trio Katastrofa blandar friskt och bjuder på mångårigt samspel, en stor portion improvisation och humor.
Trio Katastrofa består av den slovenska dockteater- och dragspelsvirtuosen Matija Solce, den multi-genrekunniga svensk-chilenska percussionisten Stefan Hedborg samt Umeå-födda violinisten Sofia Högstadius som specialiserat sig inom bulgarisk folkmusik. Medlemmarna möttes redan 2009 då Matija studerade i Sverige och har spelat ihop i otaliga band och projekt sedan dess. Trion tog sin fasta form omkring 2016 och har sedan dess turnerat flitigt runt om i Europa och Chile på festivaler, klubbar och i vardagsrum.
Bandet begränsar sig inte av en genre utan hittar ständigt nytt material från olika platser och möten med människor och kulturer. Stort fokus ligger på den traditionella musik som de lärt sig under sina resor, turnéer, kurser och alla möjliga olika kreativa sammanhang och projekt i Europas kulturliv. Under åren har trion “uppfunnit” sin egen genre som de kallar skandi-balkan folk-punk som innehåller traditionell folkmusik från Skandinavien och Balkan, eget nyskrivet material och ett hisnande snabbt samspel bottnat i improvisation och kommunikation medlemmarna emellan.
