The Beths är ett band från Auckland, Nya Zeeland, som består av sångaren/gitarristen Elizabeth Stokes, gitarristen Jonathan Pearce, basisten Benjamin Sinclair och trummisen Tristan Deck. Stokes, Pearce och Sinclair började spela musik tillsammans när de gick i high school, medan Deck träffade dem genom den lokala musikscenen och gick med i bandet 2019.
Fyrmannabandets genombrottsdebut Future Me Hates Me släpptes via Carpark Records 2018 och hyllades internationellt av Pitchfork som ”en av årets mest imponerande indierockdebuter”. Året därpå nominerades The Beths till fem Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards och vann för Best Group och Best Alternative Artist. En mängd internationella turnéer följde, med spelningar som förband till Pixies, Death Cab for Cutie och The Breeders; framträdanden på stora internationella festivaler som Primavera Sound, The Great Escape, End of the Road, SXSW, Pickathon m.fl. och headline-turnéer över Nordamerika, Storbritannien, Europa och Australien. Denna katapult från dagjobb och musik i Nya Zeeland till internationellt rampljus var katalysatorn för deras andra skiva, Jump Rope Gazers, som skildrar det bisarra språnget när turnerandet blir ditt heltidsjobb och den oväntade hemlängtan som kommer med framgång.
