Ännu fler har skadats, materiella förstörelsen är enorm och många miljoner människor är internflyktingar eller har flytt utomlands. Humanitära katastrofen är omfattande. Många väntar sig ett avgörande slag i provinsen Ildib, där terrororganisationen IS ännu har ett fäste. Ingen fredslösning har kunnat siktas.
Vad händer nu i Syrien? Vilka är de närmaste framtidsutsikterna? Vad gör Sverige?
