Vi är nu inne i människans tidsålder, antropocen, då människan själv förändrar jordens geologi och klimat. Vi skymtar ödeläggande katastrofer inom överskådlig tid. Kan de undvikas? Finns det en tillräcklig stark politisk vilja till förändring av det nuvarande destruktiva ekonomiska systemet?
Sverker Sörlin är professor i miljöhistoria vid Tekniska Högskolan i Stockholm och har bland annat skrivit en europeisk idéhistoria. Han har nyligen publicerat den uppmärksammade boken Antropocen, en essä om människans tidsålder.
Alf Hornborg är professor i humanekologi vid Lunds Universitet och har i en rad skrifter och artiklar behandlat sambandet mellan människans handlingar, det ekonomiska maktsystemet och hotet mot jorden. Bland hans böcker märks Global Magic ochSustainability and justice in the anthropocene (under utgivning).
