De allra flesta studenter inskrivna vid Lunds universitet var förmodligen inte födda när Jason ’Timbuktu’ Diakité släppte sin första singel år 1996. Därefter har Jason tuffat på med 12 album och för evigt skrivit sig in i svensk musikhistoria.
Jasons kulturyttringar går emellertid bortom musiken. Han har författat böcker, skådespelat och radiopratat. Hans självbiografiska verk, ”En droppe midnatt”, översattes och blev till hyllad scenföreställning. Faktum är att berättelsen nådde hela vägen tillbaka till Jasons pappas ursprungskvarter: Harlem, New York. År 2020 sattes Jasons berättelse upp på Harlem Stage i New York.
Förra året blev Jason utnämnd till hedersdoktor vid Lunds universitet på grund av sitt: ”innovativa författarskap och mångsidiga konstnärskap”. Det gör oss inte mindre stolta att presentera Jason ’Timbuktu’ Diakité som nästa gäst på vår scen.
