Den folkkära artisten Niklas Strömstedt inledde den musikaliska banan under tidigt 1980-tal, bland annat som musiker bakom Ulf Lundell både på skiva och på turné. Tillsammans med Lasse Lindbom och Janne Bark, under namnet Triad, fick Strömstedt 1987 en stor julhit med ”Tänd ett ljus”. I tät följd under 1990-talets inledande år följde Svensktopp-ettan ”Om”, turnén Rocktåget och vinst i Melodifestivalen med ”I morgon är en annan dag”, som framfördes av Christer Björkman.
I en ny trio-konstellation gav Niklas Strömstedt Sverige ytterligare en monsterhit med Sveriges officiella låt för Fotbolls-VM 1994, ”När vi gräver guld i USA”, tillsammans med Anders Glenmark och Orup.
På senare år har Niklas Strömstedt erhållit stor uppskattning med TV-programmet ”Tack för musiken!” samt den bejublade förställningen ”Strömstedt & Freud”. I höstas såg vi Niklas Strömstedt i det populära TV4-programmet ”Så Mycket Bättre”.
