CinemAfrica och Helios13 visar årets viktigaste HBTQ-film – kenyanska STORIES OF OUR LIVES – och bjuder på en fullmatad helkväll med regissören Jim Chuchu och producenten George Gachara på plats.
Stories of Our Lives är en unik film som helt och hållet är gjord och självfinansierad av HBTQ-personer i Kenya, som berättar sina egna historier helt utan västvärldens stereotyper, i en film från början tänkt bara för den egna gruppen.
Med enkla tekniska medel, ett ofantligt researcharbete och ett kollektivt filmskapande har produktionskollektivet The Nest skapat ett visuellt och konceptuellt mästerverk. En bedövande vacker dramafilm om HBTQ-personer i Kenya, både i storstad och på landsbygd, som följer dem i drömsk kärlek och i djupaste mörker, i små mellanmänskliga möten och uppfångade i stora politiska skeenden.

Vad kan olika communities i Sverige lära sig av Jim, George, och historien om hur Stories of our Lives blivit till? Det är temat för kvällens workshop, där publiken får möta Jim och George och får en detaljerad inblick i kollektivt filmarbete och hur det går att motstå trycket utifrån när man berättar om sig själv i film. På plats för att guida publiken i samtalet finns de communitybaserade filmarbetarna Alle Eriksson och Tine Alavi, två av svensk films viktigaste makthavare i SFI:s långfilmskonsulent Baker Karim och Film Stockholms chef Joakim Blendulf, den afrikansksvenska queeraktivisten Justine Balagade och journalisten tillika redaktören Fatima Osman.

DJ SISTER JUSTICE, En av Stockholms hetaste och flitigast anlitade DJs och en del av SUGARCANE, spelar skivor när vi dansar genom natten.
Visningen görs med stöd av Forum Syd. I samarbete med Cinema Queer och Hotell Hellstens Malmgård.

I have not received my Stories of Our Lives ticket via email. What should I do?
The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your Stories of Our Lives tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your Stories of Our Lives tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you.
