De bjuder in publiken

Awarded Croatian choreographer Matija Ferlin comes to Sweden with his fascinating "Tartuffe", second project within the "Staging a Play" series. Ferlin has chosen Moliere "classical" comedy and translated it from textual into choreographic realm. He replaced verbal dialogues with physical vocabulary and used the dramatic text as a complex choreographic score.
Nine dancers on stage are embodying characters that ceased to be "words and language" and became "bodies and movements". With glowing almost constructivist costumes, the performers, with the tenacity of their gaze constantly directed to the audience, invite to establish a new regime of perceiving that is direct and convincing.
Matija Ferlin graduated from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam and worked in Berlin, before returning home to dedicate his research to performative arts and other media, such as short film, video and exhibitions. As author and performer, he participated in renowned festivals around Europe and North America, among others such as Kunstenfestivaldesartes in Brussels, Impulstanz in Vienna, Rhubarb Festival in Toronto and FTA in Montreal.
