Den Brooklynbaserade singer/songwritern och kompositören/gitarristen Sondre Lerche spelade in sitt stilbildande och starkt melodiska debutalbum Faces Down vid 16 års ålder. Det kom att listas som ett av de mest anmärkningsvärda debutalbumen från 2002 av Rolling Stone Magazine.
Uppföljaren Two Way Monologue sågs som ett Album Of The Year av Uncut Magazine och förstärkte Lerches globala karriär. Han turnerade världen runt, både som soloartist och med band, och öppnade för bland annat Air, Stereolab och Elvis Costello på scener som Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl och Royal Albert Hall.
2009 års album Heartbeat Radio fick ett lysande mottagande, bland annat hos LA Times som skrev: ”Oavsett vilken genre han arbetar med – diffus garagerock, sorglös vokaljazz, akustisk folk/pop – så skapar denna unga, norska singer/songwriter mer medryckande refränger än många andra musiker som arbetat dubbelt så länge. Hans refränger ger alltid resultat”.
Under 2014 kom Lerches hyllade album Please – ett dissonant och mestadels ambient soundtrack för filmfestivalen Sundance’s succéfilm The Sleepwalker - och Lerche nådde en ny karriärmässig höjdpunkt. Popmatters kallade albumet ett popmästerverk och ett av årets bästa album.
2017 ger sig Sondre Lerche ut på en ny världturné och gör efterlängtade stopp i Göteborg (19 maj) och Stockholm (20 maj)!
