Om priset:
Rolf Schock, som vid sin bortgång 1986 efterlämnade en stor förmögenhet, uttryckte i sitt testamente att Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien ska utse en pristagare i logik och filosofi och en i matematik, att Kungl. Akademien för de fria konsterna ska utse en pristagare i en av de visuella konsterna och att Kungl. Musikaliska akademien ska utse en pristagare i en av de musikaliska konsterna.
Förmögenheten förvaltas av stiftelsen The Schock Foundation och från och priset delas ut varje år. Årets prisutdelning kommer att ske på Konstakademien under en ceremoni den 15 oktober 2018.
