Välkomna till Vaggans föreläsningsserie om psykoanalys. Hur kan psykoanalytisk teori användas för att förstå människans olika levnadsvillkor och skapelser?
Kafka inleder en omfattande brevväxling med Felice Bauer 1911 och den avslutas i samband med att han får sin tuberkulosdiagnos 1917. Förlovningen avbryts vid flera tillfällen men kontakten återupptas. Felices brev är förkomna men Kafkas brev bevarade.
I breven utspelas ett drama där Kafka vill försöka och drömmer om att ha en nära relation till en kvinna och hans stora tvivel på sin förmåga. Han formulerar sina uttalade rädslor att binda sig vid en annan människa och den konflikt som finns mellan önskan att gifta sig och hans uppfattning att hans enda berättigande är att vara författare, skriva och leva ett tillbakadraget liv. Psykoanalytiska reflektioner kan belysa Kafkas konflikter på ett fruktbart sätt som leder till större förståelse för hans predikament och hur centrala teman i hans verk bli begripliggjorda.
