Vem var du när Lacquer släpptes? Kanske inte ens född. Då har du i så fall fötts i skuggan av sann indie rock royalty – och du har allt att tacka Popsicle och deras debutskiva för. Den skivan av Popsicle förändrade indie-Sverige i grunden. Och banade väg för alla andra band som gjort anspråk på att kalla sig swindie.
Popsicle definierade svenskt 90-tal, spelade i skramliga källare, de största festivalscenerna och världsturnerade. La ner och äntligen ordentligt återuppståndna igen. Inte ens Jesus gjorde det bättre.
På 90-talet var CD-skivan det hetaste heta och Lacquer fick ingen vinylrelease förrän 2018 – den sålde slut på en dag. Nu när det är dags för att Popsicle att spela igen är det med fokus på just den här legendariska plattan.
Vi, som samhälle, har inte tackat Popsicle tillräckligt för deras gärning. Men vi har en chans att visa vår uppskattning när de spelar på Slaktkyrkan den 26 september tillsammans med indiepunkslynglarna i Agitator.
