11-årige Mahito förlorar sin mamma i en brand. När hans pappa gifter om sig med mammans yngre syster, Nahuto, har Mahito svårt att acceptera det. Parallellt med deras vanliga värld visar det sig finnas en alternativ dimension där allt kan hända och levande och döda går sida vid sida.
