2015 startade BookaBoat sin verksamhet i Malmö och blev därmed den första självbetjänade elbåtsuthyrningen i Norden. Båtarna, som är 5,5m långa och tar upp till 12 personer, är byggda från grunden för att vara bokningsbara elbåtar som kan delas av många. Genom att de är ständigt uppkopplade kan man aktivera, avaktivera och spåra båtarna från sin egen mobiltelefon.
Den nya innovativa tjänsten skapade snabbt rubriker och har blivit omskriven både i Sydsvenskan, Skånska Dagbladet och Vårt Malmö. De två grundarna, med intresse för hållbarhet och marint liv, har tidigare erfarenhet från IT-branschen, affärsutveckling och entreprenörskap. Så kanske var det en naturlig utveckling med elbåtar som nästa projekt.
