    TILTED AXIS

This selection of shorts are told with something of a shifted and skewed perspective, exploring alternative realities with a twisted lens. The dinner party in Jerry Carlsson’s Shadow Animals goes from slightly strange to all-out bizarre when the guests partake in the most peculiar after-dinner rituals, whilst Réka Bucsi’s animated cosmic odyssey Solar Walk melts the mind whilst exploring space, and Kerren Lumer-Klabbers’ A Stone Slowly Falls takes an unconventional look at depression. Perfect for those who lean towards the offbeat.

    Shadow Animals by Jerry Carlsson
A young girl, Marall, goes to a party with her two dads. Wide-eyed, she witnesses grown-up rituals. There is a shadow over the party that only Marall seems to notice. As the evening progresses she finds the adults’ behaviour increasingly strange. Everyone at the party is trying to conform but not everyone succeeds. A study in adult behaviour through a child’s perspective, and the relationship between acting and dancing.

    Solar Walk by Réka Bucsi
The meaning of any action exists only from the perspective of the individual, but is never categorical when looked at from the perspective of a solar system. This is about the melancholy of accepting chaos as beautiful and cosmic. Passion for creation is projected through the unique and playful texture of the animation craft itself.

A Stone Slowly Falls by Kerren Lumer-Klabbers
When an annual meteor shower doesn’t occur for no apparent reason, Tor concludes that everything is meaningless. But as he tries to live by this newfound knowledge, his curiosity becomes a problem. An unconventional view on depression and an insight into a young man's mind through a quirky narrative.

The Green Valley by Ellen H. Ugelstad
A political film based on three real events that took place in 2014 in the multicultural neighbourhood of Torshov in Oslo. It explores the connection between a man setting himself on fire in the local park, the installation of a seven-metre-tall sculpture a week later with the title NO NAME, and the end of the summer Homework program run by volunteers for local kids. A mix of live action, archive material and re-enactment.

This programme will also be screened on September 23rd at 14:30. To get a ticket for this screening, click on this link.
