Med utgångspunkt från en biografi över Gregor Paulsson skildrar Per I. Gedin i sin nya bok hur Stockholmsutställningen 1930 revolutionerade boendet. Funktionalismen gjordes från en arkitekturstil till en ideologi som skulle omfatta alla delar av tillvaro. Gamla kvarter och stadskärnor skulle rivas och ersättas av höghus omgivna av sol och ljus. Här visas hur dessa högtflygande ideal i trettiotalets tidsanda sammansmältes med folkhemsbygget och de nya raslärorna och drömmen om Den nya människan, med följder ända in i vår tid.
