Like all art forms in Indian culture, Indian classical music is believed to be a divine art form originating from the Hindu gods and goddesses.

Carnatic music is a music system commonly associated with South India. It is one of two main sub-genres of Indian classical music that have evolved from ancient Hindu texts and traditions. The other subgenre is Hindustani music, which emerged as a distinct form due to Persian or Islamic influences from northern India. The main emphasis in Carnatic music is on vocal music; most compositions are written to be sung, and also when played on instruments.

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in Tamil Nadu.It is one of eight Indian classical dance forms recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, and expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas, particularly of Shaivism and in general of Hinduism.
