From the Diary of Virginia Woolf is an eight-part song cycle written by Dominick Argento in 1974. The work won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1975.
The text of the songs comes from A Writer's Diary: Being Extracts from the Diary of Virginia Woolf, which was published in 1954. The highly confessional diary texts illuminate Woolf's inner world in a more immediate way than do her literary works.

Jag har alltid drömt om att ha en egen Musiksalong där kreativa krafter kunde mötas och inspirera varandra, där människor i en gemytlig miljö kunde träffas och uppleva något tillsammans. Jag har hittat ett rum, en riktig pärla som passar just till det.
Det ska kännas lätt och opretentiöst att komma in i det klassiska rummet mitt i Gamla Stan. Flygeln står där och väntar på att få spela för Dig. Ljusen kommer att bli tända för att visa att Du är varmt välkommen. Ett glas väl vald vin kommer att bli serverad när Du kommer in. Jag kommer att dela med mig mina tankar, som uppstod under den kreativa arbetsprocessen, innan ett speciellt vald musikstycke för just den kväll kommer att spelas för Dig.
