MALL GIRL
Mall Girl is a fresh Oslo-based band that already has begun to establish themselves as one of the most exciting and promising bands on the the Norwegian pop scene. The music offers a diverse mix of danceable indie, pop and math rock, as well as 80’s pop funk and punk. Through a conceptual image and energetic live performances the band has quickly raised attention and an audience. Mall Girl includes a classic rock band line-up, using guitar, bass, vocal and drums. Despite the simple line-up, Mall Girl has a complex and exciting sound which is drawn into different directions based on the individual members’ musical references.The band has been compared to bands like Pom Poko and Broen, and during 2018 they have been playing festivals such as Øyafestivalen, Vill Vill Vest, Livestock and Oslo Jazzfestival. At the end of April 2018 Mall Girl released their first single “Slay Queen” via P3 Urørt, and was immediately recommended by the radio channel.

Stockholmsbandet Melby har sedan debuten med det medryckande alstret Human ständigt lyckats hitta ny publik med varje singel och spelning. 2017 års självbetitlade debut-EP, innehållandes singlar Pat och Cross, har hyllats av bland andra Musikguiden i P3, HYMN, Ja Ja Ja samt Line of Best Fit. Debuten följdes upp med Reject strax innan sommaren där turnédatum i Sverige, Storbritannien och Tyskland väntade. I oktober släpptes Overthinking som är ytterligare en bit till det spännande pusslet som är Melbys musik och ännu ett steg i en alltmer lovande karriär.
Melby har under sin korta karriär redan byggt upp ett namn på den växande svenska indiescenen med sin semi-psykedeliska pop. Jämförelserna har ofta dragits till Amason, Slowgold och Dungen men bandets egna och mångsidiga stil som innefattar såväl folk, psyk, indie och pop gör att man sticker ut. Live visar Melby upp sitt fulla register och kvartetten gjorde redan efter två singlar utsålda spelningar i Stockholm, sedan dess har man fortsatt att utvecklas och tillhör idag en av landets mest spännande up-and-coming band. Kvartetten har sedan den ambitiösa debut-EP:n arbetat med det debutalbum som är att vänta under 2019.
Melby är Matilda Wiezell (sång, keyboard), Are Engen Steinsholm (gitarr), David Jehrlander (bas) och Teo Jernkvist (trummor) och släpper sin musik via det Stockholmsbaserade indiebolaget Rama Lama Records (Steve Buscemi's Dreamy Eyes, Chez Ali, Kluster mfl.).
