Lilly Hiatt (Nashville, US)
När ens far är John Hiatt, en av USAs ledande låtskrivare sedan 70-talet, så har man en del att leva upp till när man väljer en karriär inom musiken. Lilly är född tidigt 1984 under ett extra stökig period i familjens liv. Bara månader efter hon fötts så checkade pappa John in sig på rehab för sitt långvariga alkoholmissbruk, och kort därefter tog hennes mamma sitt eget liv. Hiatts flyttade till Nashville när John försökte pussla ihop sitt liv igen och Lilly växte upp medan faderns karriär tog fart på allvar, samtidigt som privatlivet börjat stabilisera sig.
Lilly gick high school i Nashville, och studerade senare vid University of Denver i Colorado. Under tiden i Colorado bestämde hon sig själv för att bli musiker på heltid. Hon gjorde sin inspelningsdebut 2008 som bakgrundssångare på pappans ‘Same Old Man’, och började samtidigt spela med eget band. 2011 fick ‘Lilly Hiatt & the Dropped Ponies’ ett skivkontrakt med Normaltown Records, en dotter-label till New West Records och debutalbumet ‘Let Down’ kom året efter. Efter extensivt turnérande, bland annat som öppnare för pappa John, så återvände hon med uppföljaren ‘Royal Blue’ 2015. Efter att själv ha kämpat med alkoholism och tagit sig ut på andra sidan - så låste hon i flera månader in sig i sin lägenhet för att tvångsmässigt lyssna på skivor, spela gitarr och skriva låtar baserat på hennes erfarenheter. Hiatt åkte sedan till South Carolina för att med hjälp av producenten Michael Trent (Shovels and Rope) göra färdigt ‘Trinity Lane’. Albumet gavs ut 25 augusti i år av New West, och nu kommer hon till Skandinavien för första gången.
