Skrift är tillbaka med en ny serie litteratursamtal – denna gång om krig och litteratur. Hur har krigserfarenheter påverkat litteraturens utformning, och hur har krig skildras i den västerländska litteraturen? De två första samtalen av fyra hålls under samma kväll.

Första världskriget och modernismen
Med avstamp i den nyupptäckta och nyss översatta romanen ”Krig” av Ferdinand Celine och i Virginia Woolfs roman ”Jacobs rum” samtalat Martin Engberg med Ingrid Elam och Kristofer Leandoer om första världskriget och dess avgörande betydelse för den litterära modernismen.

Eyvind Johnson och andra världskriget
Mitt under pågående krig skrev Eyvind Johnson sin serie om Krilon. Romansviten var ett sätt att undkomma censuren – i romanform kunde vittnesmål publiceras som inte tilläts i dagspressen, men sviten var också ett sätt att göra litteratur av krigets nu.
Martin Engberg samtalar med litteraturvetaren Hanna Aspegren och författaren och Augustprisvinnaren Tony Samuelsson om Eyvind Johnsons krigsskildring, men också om hur romanformen kan användas för att berätta om andra världskriget från ett annat håll med avstamp i Tony Samuelssons romaner ”Jag var en arier” och ”Kafkapaviljongen”, som skildrar en kontrafaktisk verklighet där tredje riket lagt Sverige under sig och Albert Speer är führer.
Arrangeras i samarbete med Folkuniversitetet, och med bidrag från Svenska Akademien och Göteborgs Stad.
