Sisters of Invention är en svensk duo som utgörs av systrarna Malin och Karolina Almgren. Under de senaste åren har de samarbetat med en rad kända musiker och artister, och hyllats, i både Sverige och resten av Europa, för sitt unika sound.
2016 vann Sisters of Invention Euroradio Jazz Competition i Amsterdam och hösten 2017 mottog de Sveriges Radios pris Jazzkatten i kategorin ”årets grupp”. De har samarbetat med det professionella storbandet, Bohuslän Big Band, detta resulterade i skivsläppet “En rymd av färg” (2017), ett album bestående av musik som komponerats och arrangerats av systrarna. De har släppt tre kritikerrosade skivor “Om & om igen” (2013), “Navigating” (2015) och “SOL” (2018). I höstas kom även EP:n “Nostalgia”.
Sisters of Invention´s duo-repertoar är ett avskalat koncept där systrarna ger sig själva mer plats som improvisatörer och instrumentalister. Sättningen består till grunden av trumset och saxofon, toppat med sång, loopar och sampling-pad. Musiken beskrivs som färgstark och svängig samtidigt som den är poetisk och sårbar. Fokus ligger på starka melodier och rytmer. Förbered dig på att bli överraskad av den variation av ljud och stilar som denna duo kan frambringa.
