Nadin Al Khalidi från Tarabband och Tobias Allvin från Tummel har länge velat skapa ny musik tillsammans. Med utgångspunkt i deras olika musikaliska bakgrunder och uttryck, fann de gemenskap i arabiska stränginstrument, texter, skalor och sång som vävs samman med 70-talets rockiga och punkiga sound i Kairo.
Alvin Al Khalidi hämtar sin inspiration från den egensinniga musik, som utvecklades när musiker i arabvärlden försökte närma sig västerländsk popkultur under tidigt sjuttiotal. Uttrycket hade en kort blomstringstid, men dog i sin linda i takt med att den religiösa och politiska extremismen tog allt större plats i samhället. Al Vin Al Khalidi plockar nu fördomsfritt upp tråden. Influerade av den senaste tidens omvälvande händelser skapar bandet ett soundtrack till nya generationer. Lite nostalgi, lite punk, lite world och en hel massa kärlek!
