This seminar will explore the musical connections among the peoples of Central Eurasia and its borderlands and will include live demonstrations of music by musicians performing in Re:Orient.
Theodore Levin, Professor of Music at Dartmouth College, served as the first executive director of the Silk Road Project, founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and is currently Senior Consultant to the Aga Khan Music Initiative, a program of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
Theodore ”Ted” Levin är internationellt erkänd som en av de viktigaste rösterna i världen inom musiketnologi. Han har under mer än tre decennier samlat och spelat in musiker i Kirgizistan, Kazakstan, Tadzjikistan, Uzbekistan och Kina. Det har resulterat i en omfattande samling där Centralasiens rika musikskatt nu finns bevarad.
Ett samarbete mellan ReOrient, UKK, KMH & Centre for Folk- and Traditional Music Performance.
