KANAAN (NO)
Kanaan producerar så mycket musik att Fuzz-pedalerna knappt behöver stängas av mellan varje session. Återigen kliver de ut ur replokalen, och med sig har de fått det nya albumet Downpour.
Det är inte svårt att höra att detta är en tydlig länk till det förra albumet Earthbound, och många av idéerna på Downpour kom till när de spelade in den föregående skivan i studion Athletic Sound i Halden - där även det nya materialet är inspelat.
De tyngsta låtarna på albumet är också de en fortsättning på idén om "The Great Riff" och den känsla av eufori när ett bra riff ersätts av ett annat. När det kommer till de delarna är band som Kyuss, MC%, Sleep o Hawkwind fortfarande stora inspirationskällor - medan Needlepoint och Dungen har varit viktiga för det mer melodiska materialet på plattan.
Man får hålla hårt i hatten när bandet slungar ut sina monster-riff på låtar som "Orbit", "Solaris pt.2" och inte minst "Amazon", där de får sällskap av en av Norges fetaste gitarrister - Hedvig Mollestad.
Bandet själva säger att de känner att kemin och låtskrivandet på detta nya album låter dem äga rockspråket som de flirtade med på Earhtbound, och det känns som en värdig uppföljare till den skiva som blivit mycket viktig i bandets historia.
