John Lundgren syns i den dramatiska operarepertoaren på scener världen över. Bland hans signaturroller hittar man utöver Wagner-roller som Den flygande Holländaren och Wotan även flera av operalitteraturens onda karaktärer som Scarpia i Tosca, Pizarro i Fidelio och titelrollen i Riddar Blåskäggs Borg.
När John Lundgren sjöng Wotan i Nibelungens ring i Wagners högborg Bayreuth var det första gången på 65 år som rollen gjordes av en svensk sångare. Sedan dess har John framträtt hela fem säsonger i Bayreuth. Han har även sjungit rollen som Wotan i Ringen på Wiener Staatsoper med Nina Stemme som Brünnhilde.

VÄSTERLÖFSTA KYRKAS MUSIKSTIFTELSE
Inför Anders Walls 80-årsdag 2011 önskade han sig istället för presenter bidrag till en konsertflygel i hemförsamlingen Västerlövsta. Bidragen lade grunden för den fantastiska Steinway-flygel som sedan installerades i Västerlövsta kyrka i Heby. Ambitionen är att varje år arrangera minst fyra konserter av mycket hög musikalisk klass. Konsertverksamheten stöds ekonomiskt av Anders Walls stiftelse.
