Vi krämar ur det sista av Planetfestivalen på söndag den 4e november när legendaren Idris Ackamoor intar Oceanen med sitt band The Pyramids. Det blir kosmiskt sväng och en sista dans innan vi sätter punkt för helgen.
IDRIS ACKAMOOR & THE PYRAMIDS
Med de tunga nya albumen ”An Angel Fell” (2018) och ”We Be All Africans” (2016) i bagaget och en alltid lika stark scennärvaro kommer Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids på Sverigebesök – räkna med kosmiskt sväng!
De började som elever till frijazzlegenden Cecil Taylor vid Antioch College i Ohio. År 1972 använde de sitt studiebidrag för att resa till Europa och så småningom Afrika. På den afrikanska kontinenten reste de sedan runt och spelade med lokala musiker överallt där de kunde. Influenserna och erfarenheterna som de samlade ihop under dessa resor hördes snart i den egna musiken och deras sjuttiotalsalbum är högt eftertraktade samlarobjekt.
Efter en något oväntad återförening år 2012 har de fortsatt släppa starkt material, både unikt och visionärt – alltid med fokus på afroinspirerade beats.
