Ännu en gång får vi äran att stifta bekantskap med magiska Huun-Huur-Tu på Oceanens scen! Det är något av en hypnotisk upplevelse när Huun-Huur-Tu uppträder med sin strupsång och shamanska musik som mer är något annat verkar komma från en annan värld.

Denna grupp skapar med sin strupsång överjordiska och häpnadsväckande ljudupplevelser. En ton flyter långsamt in i den andra och bildar tillsammans en fast och nyanserad ljudbild.
Tekniken härstammar från en gammal tuvansk sångtradition. Eller faktiskt flera traditioner. Huun Huur Tu använder olika strupsångstekniker, vardera med sina egna egenskaper: Khöömei, Sygyt och Kargyraa för att nämna några.
Sången ackompanjeras av stränginstrumenten Igil och Byzaanchi vars utseende är lika distinkta som deras ljud: Igilen är formad som en häst och Byzaanchiens kropp har en cylindrisk form. Dessutom en långhalsad luta, Doshpuluur, en liten munharpa, Khomus och slaginstrumentet, Tuyug bestående av två hästhovar.
Musiktraditionen har vuxit fram i området kring Tuva-regionen på gränsen mellan den Sibiriska Tajgan och centralasiatiska halvöken. På Tuvas slätter var gruppens grundare, Kaigal-OOL Khovalyg herde innan han blev världsresande musiker som har spelat med band som Kronos Quartet och Frank Zappa.
