hackedepicciotto are Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto.
Alexander Hacke is original member and the bass player of Einstürzende Neubauten. Danielle de Picciotto is the co-initiator of the Berlin Love Parade, a collaborator of the electronic Ocean Club & Monika Werkstatt project with Gudrun Gut; former member of cult band Crime & The City Solution and Alexander’s partner in crime. She is also a visual artist.
hackedepicciotto have a long history of collaborations in their music (Mick Harvey, Lustmord, The Tiger Lillies, Kid Congo, Julee Cruise). They glide across genres that take in cinematic drone, industrial, experimental and spoken word that shift between meditative sung harmonieswith soundscapes to heavy drones and meteoric, vivacious symphonies comparable to a perfect mixture of OM, Suicide, Dead Can Dance, Low and Arvo Pärt.
After many years hackedepicciotto return to Stockholm to present their new album "The Best of hackedepicciotto, Live in Napoli". It is released in November 2024 by MUTE and it collates over 20 years of collaboration, experimentation and genre defying work. The album presents a collection of compositions from all hackedepicciotto releases, but they have morphed through being performed live. It is a great opportunity to discover the hackedepicciotto sound as a first time listener, but also a fantastic insight into how music can change for long-time fans following our development.
It is a mixture of industrial beats, electronic sounds with classical harmonies and melodies, with an added pinch of throat singing, Hurdy-Gurdy and spoken word. Mute’s guru Daniel Miller goes on to say that “their music is a genre of its own, something new and very intriguing.”
