Göteborgs kammarkör och Jessica Zandén hyllar minnet av en av de största svenska tonsättarna. Nystroem komponerade musik i många format med en dragning åt vemod eller upprörda stämningar. Bland hans främsta verk räknas de romanser han skrev som delvis bygger på tonsättningar av dikter av Grebbestadbördiga Ebba Lindqvist, en poet med vilken han delade det djupa förhållandet till havet.
Jessica Zandén berättar om målaren, kompositören och tillika hennes morfar Gösta. Berättelsen tar utgångspunkt i hans egen biografi och tecknar ett porträtt av mannen, musikern och livsnjutaren. Kammarkören sjunger tonsatt poesi av bl.a Ebba Lindqvist och Elmer Diktonius. Harald Svensson ackompanjerar på piano.
