Gandhi Djuna, known as Gims, formerly Maître Gims, born May 5, 1986 in Kinshasa (DRC), is a Congolese singer-songwriter and rapper.
Member of the hip-hop group Sexion d'Assaut, he pursues an individual career under the name of Maître Gims: in 2013, he released his first album, Subliminal, which sold more than one million copies and peaked at second place in the French album rankings. Then, he releases his reissue: Subliminal the hidden face. Album follow-up My heart was right (2015) and Black Belt, and its two reissues (2018, 2019), which are number one in France and in Belgium (Wallonia) and reached the top 40 in several European countries. Subsequently, Gims returns to the rap verse, and releases Le Fléau in 2020, followed by two reissues, in 2021. In 2022, he announces LDVM that it will be released on December 2nd. He topped the French singles chart four times, including once as an artist star, most recently in 2018 with his song La Same which is the most listened to in France and made Gims the most performed artist on French television and radio that year.
Always in 2018, he is the seventh most played artist in the world on Deezer. In September 2019, he officially becomes the first urban artist to fill the Stade de France with more than
72,000 spectators. During his career he has worked with artists such as Sia, Pitbull, Lil
Wayne, Stromae, Maluma, Sting and others. He has sold more than five million records.
