Vid denna konsert, som dubbleras på Lidingö 25/5 och i Täby 26/5, möter vi två tonsättare vars musik brukar räknas till den impressionistiska stilen.
- Vi gästas denna gång av den unga svensk-lettiska pianisten Iveta Calite, som framför Maurice Ravels pianokonsert i G-dur, som komponerades mellan 1929 och 1931.
- Maurice Ravel är en av modernismens stora pionjärer och hans rytmiska kompositioner har tydliga influenser av jazz. Det hörs i pianokonsertens jazzidiom, där solostämman ofta ger känslan av ren improvisation. Han utmanar gränsdragningen mellan olika musikaliska genrer och landar i en helt egen stil som fortfarande känns ytterst modern.
- Vi framför även hans välkända och mycket vackra Pavane för en död prinsessa.
- Claude Debussys musik representerar övergången mellan den senromantiska musiken och 1900-talets moderna musik. Liten svit med fyra satser är ett av kompositörens mest spelade verk och komponerades ursprungligen för fyrhändigt piano 1888. Det arrangerades för orkester 1907 av Henri Büsser och Debussy tackade omedelbart honom i ett brev för hans "genialiska orkestrering".
