1970 vinner Maja Ekelöf, en då okänd 52-årig städerska, Rabén & Sjögrenstora romantävling med Rapport från en skurhink, en dagbok från en hård låglönevardag. Maja Ekelöf får komma till Stockholm och ta emot priset från den tidens stora: Astrid Lindgren, Lars Gyllensten och Alva Myrdal. Över en natt blev städerskan och fembarnsmamman från Karlskoga en rikskändis. Jag har torkat nog många golv är en berättelse om en enastående kvinna, och en påminnelse om hur samhället fortfarande ser på kvinnor med låglöneyrken.
