Den 15.e oktober möts Martin Gelin och Ola Larsmo i ABF-huset för att diskuterara varandras böcker och perspektiv på USA.
Martin Gelin flyttade till New York i september 2001. Det blev början på en turbulent tid i amerikansk politik, där han rapporterat från varje hörn av USA för svenska och internationella medier i två decennier, en period då han såg landets demokrati långsamt vittra sönder.
I fyra hyllade reportageböcker och tusentals artiklar har Martin skildrat landets politiska utmaningar, samtidigt som han själv blivit allt mer rotad i USA, gift sig med en amerikan, fått barn, köpt bostadsrätt – och blivit amerikansk medborgare.
I Martins senaste bok Imorgon är jag långt härifrån är en levande och personlig skildrig över två decennier av bitterljuv kärlek till allt det amerikanska, inte minst New York och hemkvarteret i Brooklyn.
Ola Larsmo är författare och litteraturkritiker. Han debuterade på åttiotalet och hans senare verk präglas av historiska miljöer med dokumentära inslag, utspelade i USA, däribland Swede Hollow och Översten. Ola Larsmo är även en flitig samhällsdebattör och kulturjournalist.
