    Description

KERSTIN FRÖDIN, ANNA LINDAL and MATS PERSSON, with KARL DUNÉR and JAN STOLPE

Join us for an artistic evening where music and words intertwine. Musicians Mats Persson, Kerstin Frödin, and Anna Lindal perform, accompanied by artist Karl Dunér and translator Jan Stolpe, drawing inspiration from Karl’s current exhibition Sophögen.

Kerstin Frödin, recorder och baroque oboe.
Active internationally as a soloist and chamber musician in early and contemporary experimental art music, she has performed at festivals including Festival Oude Muziek (Utrecht), Festival d’Île de France (Paris), Grandezze & Meraviglie (Modena), Festival Accademia Bizantina (Bagnacavallo), Stockholm Early Music Festival, and Nordiska Musikdagar. Her recordings appear on labels such as BIS, Phono Suecia, dB Productions, and Caprice. Kerstin has also contributed to theater, opera, and dance productions at Confidencen, Drottningholm Palace Theatre, Vadstena Academy, MDT, Riksteatern, and Radioteatern.

    Anna Lindal, violin.
Anna studied in Sweden and Switzerland and lived in Switzerland and France for many years, performing with Trio des Lyres, specializing in baroque, classical, and contemporary music. The film Livsstråk portrays her musical journey. She was concertmaster of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm (1983–2001) and later a professor at the Royal College of Music (2002–). Now a freelance violinist, she focuses on artistic research, interpretation, and improvisation, collaborating with contemporary composers and premiering new works. She has recorded solo albums featuring John Cage and Christian Wolff and performed Argentine tango with Tango Libre for several years.

    Mats Persson, pianist, clavichordist, composer.
Since 1972, he has performed across Europe, the USA, and Canada as a soloist and ensemble musician, specializing in contemporary music. He has championed lesser-known composers like J.M. Hauer, Gösta Oswald, and Claude Loyola Allgén and produced the complete keyboard works of CJL Almqvist. In 1972, he co-founded a piano duo with Kristine Scholz, focusing on modern classics and contemporary music. Since 2012, he has also performed on the clavichord, exploring contemporary and 17th–18th century music. As a composer, he blends improvisation with composition, creating works for piano, chamber ensembles, dance, and theater.

    Jan Stolpe, translator.
Jan Stolpe has long been one of Sweden’s foremost translators. His work has brought many French and Greek
classics into Swedish, making them accessible to Swedish-speaking readers. “Jan Stolpe is one of the greatest—
I would almost say the greatest—translator of our generation, or even of our lifetime,” says Stephen Farran-Lee. “Without him, no knowledge of Montaigne; without him, what would we understand of Plato today?”
