Description
Tornedalen 1952. Nioåriga Elina bor i en stuga tillsammans med sin ensamstående mamma och två småsyskon. Elinas pappa är död och i saknaden efter honom söker hon tröst vid den farliga myren där hon tycker sig få kontakt med pappan. När Elina återvänder till skolan efter en tids sjukdom hamnar hon på kollisionskurs med sin nya lärarinna, Tora Holm. Elina protesterar då hon tycker Tora Holm är orättvis mot en klasskamrat. Tora Holm straffar Elina genom att behandla henne som luft. Trots att alla är införstådda med vad som sker vågar till en början ingen ställa sig på Elinas sida.
