Från första stunden du hör Eek A Mouse (hans rätta namn är Ripton Hilton) så är han oförglömlig...på gott och ont! Eek A Mouse lyckades få Dancehall-besökarna att gå i spinn 1979 med sin första DJ-singel, Joe Gibbs-produktionen "Once a virgin". Det är svårt att föreställa sig någon som inte fascineras av hans nasalt gälla röst och "biddy beng-beng, biddy meng-meng"-scat. Denna sångstil i sig själv bidrog till att särskilja honom från resten av veteran-DJ:erna, men det som upphöjer honom i synnerhet är kvalitén hans musik och melodier besitter. Trots att han allmänt betraktas som en DJ, så är hans stil distinkt av "singjay"-karaktär. Eek A Mouses sång påminner vare sig om vindlande toastare såsom U-Roy eller en tidig dancehall-DJ som exempelvis Yellowman. Hans bakgrundsrytmer är varken digital dancehall eller slingor lånade från andra toastares låtar. Han är helt unik, vilket är svårt att säga om någon annan artist oavsett genre. Eek A Mouses stil är rätt och slätt rolig, t.ex. i de underbart lekfulla "Peeni Walli" och "Wa-Do-Dem"; en utav hans större hitlåtar. En verkligt begåvad artist, som inte uteslutande håller sig till sin egen "bong bong biddy beng"-gimmick. Han levererar även seriösa texter, vilket han bevisar bland annat i "Terrorists in The City", "Virgin Girl" och "Do you "Remember".
