Dokumentären är en del av ett större projekt som tillsammans med fotografier och utställningar utforskar människans besatthet av rikedom. Regissören Lauren Greenfield väver sömnlöst samman två decenniers dokumentation till ett starkt narrativ. Historien tar avstamp i Los Angeles och skildrar hur betydelsen av hög social status och starkt kulturellt kapital spridit sig som en global farsot. Skuldbesatta familjer delar med sig av sina berättelser om deras desperata jakt på lyx. En stark skildring om viljan att vara rik. Ett tema som Lauren Greenfield delvis närmast sig tidigare med den uttrycksfulla ”The Queen of Versailles”.
