Dean Johnson fick sin första gitarr vid fjorton års ålder. Att sätta ihop ackord genom försök och misstag och konstnärlig intuition förblev en tillfällig, mestadels isolerad strävan under många år. I slutet av tjugoårsåldern hade Dean skrivit en sång med text och han var långt upp i trettioårsåldern innan han började sjunga med någon regelbundenhet.
En liten hög med originallåtar hade samlats ihop när han arbetade på en bar i Seattle där nya vänskaper ledde till att han började spela elgitarr i banden Davidson Hart Kingsbery och The Sons of Rainier. Dessa band var nyckeln till att etablera den musikaliska gemenskap som uppmuntrade honom att sjunga sina egna låtar på Seattles scener. När Dean släpper sitt första album senare i år kommer han att vara 50 år gammal. Hahahahahah!!!
