I början av december kommer två legender inom grimescenen till Stockholm för att berika våra liv. The greatest MC of all time, D-Double-E, och den minst sagt inflytelserika DJn/producenten Sir Spyro, intar Slakthuset den 5 december. Klassisk kväll på gång alltså.
D-Double-E
D-Double-E är ena halvan av Newham Generals, döpt efter ökända stadsdelen Newham i London. Som MC är D-Double-E bland de de största inom grime, och av många ansedd som den främsta.
Med texter som är grundade i East Londons vardagliga liv har han med Newham Generals legat bakom låtar som “Hard”, “Street Fighter” och “Like it or not” och varit en centralgestalt inom genren under en längre tid med en unik stil, flow och sin speciella persona. Det är inte för intet som han kallas “the greatest grime MC of all time”.
Sir Spyro
Producenten och DJn Sir Spyro mixar ihop sin noga utvalda låtar med kirurgisk skicklighet. Hans radioprogram på banbrytande Rinse FM är en institution i den engelska grimescenen, där miljontals lyssnare uppdaterar sig om det senaste på veckobasis.
Som DJ växte hans skivspelande in i att producera egna låtar och är personen bakom labeln Dragon Punch Records och är även med och driver Pitch Controller.
Någonting som är enkelt att se är att Sir Spyro fortfarande är ett grime-fan först och främst, någonting som inte minst märks genom släppet av The Very Best Of Grime, där Spyro har valt att lyfta fram vad han anser är genrens guldkorn.
